Last Tuesday evening I got back home from Paris Fashion Week. Such an amazing experience again. All that inspiration on those catwalks and streets. Paris is just soaked with fashion during those days.
I’ve seen many shows, but I will only mention the ones that made the most impression.
Next to the shows I’ve also been to two presentations. Let’s start with one of those:
CHRISTIAN DIOR
It was a lovely experience to be invited to the house of Dior. The place where Christian Dior started his business and from where it was build into a world leading fashion empire. After I walked into the building I noticed pictures on the walls showing Christian Dior, his atelier, the designs and celebrities that wore his couture. Imagine white halls with some black accents, and chandeliers shining its most beautiful lights.
The showroom was filled with extraordinary pieces from the last show which was only a few days before this presentation. All created by the new designer of the house; Maria Grazia Chiuri. The first female designer for Dior. And she made her point clear on one of the T-shirs (of which the pictures are probably already circulating fast all over the world) ‘We should all be feminists’ it states. (food for thought 😉 ) Her collection took us on a journey of the personal interests of Christian Dior himself. Tarot cards, embroidered little insects/animals, classic bags into new perspectives, items inspired on the ‘New look’ which will always be timeless classics and many many more beautiful designs.
I made a lot of pictures while I was there, but below I’m showing you the items that appealed most to my personal style.
And @ Dior: Thank you for having me!
The entrance of the showroom & pictures above the stairs
The statement T-shirt
Embriodered little bee’s, the logo of Dior
The tulle material was extremely soft. This specific tulle item had small ruched details which would probably wave gracefully while wearing it. So photogenetic and elegant. (*I’m always thinking in pictures I guess..*)
One of my favorites is the red dress. Also made fromt soft tulle, but with the logo straps as a playful detail and interesting contrast to the chique appearance of the dress. (*imagines wearing it someday.. well, a girl can have dreams right?!*)
Bringing back the logo details
Polka dot print on tulle connected with leather. Totally softens the appearance of the leather into a feminine and luxurious combination
A renewed design of the well known Lady Dior bag
Oui. J’adore. Uhm, I mean J’adior ! Best of both wor(l)ds 🙂 (*Loves word plays *)
Inspired by tarot
LEONARD
Another wonderful experience was the show of Leonard. As you’ve maybe already read on my Instagram is that I was wearing their finale dress of last seasons’ show. Such soft fabric, lightly draped around my body. It was heaven. But more about that in a next post about my outfits. A tiny sneak peek over here:
The show was a perfect balance between metallic fabrics, pleated materials and colorful prints. A pleasure for the eyes. The shiny elements gave that extra glamour to the collection and the pleats felt like a good mix of classic and trend in a new form. Loved it!
Barbara Bui
Electric, colorbombs and stunning combinations! Not afraid to show some skin and play along with lines and shapes. I think that sums it up well. Take a look yourself:
Issey Miyake
What first caught my eyes (actually my ears to be more specific) were the original instruments that were being played during the show. Issey Miyake always uses live music during his shows which is an experience on it’s own. Love that characteristic. The looks were identified by platform shoes in various bright colors, which seemed comfortable to wear in contrast what you might think. The outfits with matching opposite colors (also knows as color-blocking) and strong geometrical lines were my absolute favorites.
Chalayan
Not like any other. Thinking beyond what’s common and introducing us this time to the world of heartbeats and stress levels. Hussein Chalayan and his creative mind introduced us to technology in fashion. Glasses which can analyze your body. Besides that he showed us designs, both for women and men, which I’m showing you below on the pictures.
Escada
Another presentation I visited was the one of Escada. This time they showed many variations on leather materials. Like for example laser cut jackets, or ruched dresses made of small leather squares. Very soft to the touch as well. I also loved the choice of colors for next spring summer!
Andrew Gn
Super ladylike and with a lot of floral embroidery, a bit of mesh and some leather details. My favorites were the designes below. Romantic fairytale feelings over here.
John Galliano
A show filled with softly draped fabrics, with materials that floated with the models. He showed a soft feminine side this time, with inspirations from the 30s.
This first picture was my favorite piece from the collecion. Love the ruched details.
Haider Ackermann
The looks that caught my attention were definitely the wonderful orange dress and the lila metallic trousers combined with a leopard printed blouse. Loved the finale where the models stood as a strong group with so much variety. The collection was strong and colorful in a stunning setting.
Let me know your favorites! 😀
